I am grateful to editor Victor D. Infante for what he said about it when he shared on Facebook: "There's a meme that was going around the Internet of a guy with a hose spraying down a house that isn't burning, while the one next to it is on fire. The guy with the hose says to the obviously distraught homeowner, 'Hey, man. ALL houses matter.' This poem by Logen Cure predates the #BlackLivesMatter movement a bit, but it's a good little illustration of how being able to blithely choose an identity without repercussion is an expression of privilege, and how it's not quite so simple for everyone."
Keep it real, y'all. Cheers.
